Lyrics

Well She Was Just Seventeen
And You Know What I Mean
And The Way She Looked
Was Way Beyond Compare

Now I’ll Never Dance With Another (Woah)
Since I Saw Her Standing There

Well She Looked At Me And I I Could See
That Before Too Long I’d Fall In Love With Her
Now I’ll Never Dance With Another (Woah)
Since I Saw Her Standing There

Well My Heart Went “Boom”
When I Crossed That Room
And I Held Her Hand In Mine

Well We Danced Through The Night
And We Held Each Other Tight
And Before Too Long
I Fell In Love With Her
Now I’ll Never Dance With Another (Woah)
Since I Saw Her Standing There

Solo

Well My Heart Went Boom
When I Crossed That Room
And I Held Her Hand In Mine

Well We Danced Through The Night
And We Held Each Other Tight
And Before Too Long I Fell In Love With Her
Now I’ll Never Dance With Another (Oh)
Since I Saw Her Standing There

Well Since I Saw Her Standing There
Yeah Well Since I Saw Her Standing There

You’re Always Dancing Down The Street
With Your Suede Blue Eyes
And Every New Boy That You Meet
He Doesn’t Know The Real Surprise

(Here She Comes Again)
When She’s Dancing ‘Neath The Starry Sky Ooh
She’ll Make You Flip

When She’s Dancing ‘Neath The Starry Sky
I Kinda Like The Way She Dips

She’s My Best Friend’s Girl

Moving Forward Using All My Breath
Making Love To You Was Never Second Best
I Saw The World Crashing All Around Your Face
Never Really Knowing It Was Always
Mesh And Lace

I’ll Stop The World And Melt With You
You’ve Seen The Difference
And It’s Getting Better All The Time
There’s Nothing You And I Won’t Do
I’ll Stop The World And Melt With You

(We Should Know Better)
Dream Of Better Lives
The Kind Which Never Hate
(We Should See Why)
Dropped In The State Of Imaginary Grace
(We Should Know Better)
I Made A Pilgrimage
To Save This Human’s Race
(We Should See Why)
Never Comprehending
The Race Had Long Gone By

I’ll Stop The World And Melt With You
(I’ll Stop The World)
You’ve Seen The Difference
And It’s Getting Better All The Time
(I’ll Stop The World)
There’s Nothing You And I Won’t Do
(I’ll Stop The World)
I’ll Stop The World And Melt With You

The Future’s Open Wide

Solo

(Let’s Stop The World)
I’ll Stop The World And Melt With You

I’ve Seen The Difference
And It’s Getting Better All The Time
But It’s Getting Better All The Time

There’s Nothing You And I Won’t Do

I’ll Stop The World And Melt With You

The Future’s Open Wide

Baby Here I Am I’m A Man On The Scene
I Can Give You What You Want
But You Gotta Come Home With Me
I Have Got Some Good Old Lovin’
And I Got Some More In Store
When I Get Through Throwin’ It On You
You Gotta Come Back For More

Boys And Things That Come By The Dozen
That Ain’t Nothin’ But Drugstore Lovin’
Pretty Little Thing Let Me Light Your Candle
‘Cause Mama I’m So Hard To Handle Now
Yes I Am

Action Speaks Louder Than Words
And I’m A Man Of Great Experience
I Know You’ve Got Another Man
But I Can Love You Better Than Him

Take My Hand Don’t Be Afraid
I’m Gonna Prove Every Word I Say
I’m Advertising Love For Free
So You Can Place Your Ad With Me

Boys  That Come Along A Dime By The Dozen
That Ain’t Nothing But Ten Cent Lovin’
Pretty Little Thing Let Me Light Your Candle
‘Cause Mama I’m Sure Hard To Handle Now
Yes I Am

Yeah
Hard To Handle Now
Oh Baby

Baby Here I Am I’m A Man On Your Scene
I Can Give You What You Want
But You Gotta Come Home With Me
I Have Got Some Good Old Lovin’
And I Got Some More In Store
When I Get Through Throwin’ It On You
You Gotta Come Back For More

Boys  They Run Along A Dime By The Dozen
That Ain’t Nothing But Ten Cent Lovin’
Pretty Little Thing Let Me Light Your Candle
‘Cause Mama I’m So Hard To Handle Now
Yes I Am

Hard
Hard To Handle Now
Oh Yeah Yeah Yeah

Somebody Once Told Me
The World Is Gonna Roll Me
I Ain’t The Sharpest Tool In The Shed

She Was Looking Kind Of Dumb
With Her Finger And Her Thumb
In The Shape Of An “L” On Her Forehead

Well The Years Start Coming
And They Don’t Stop Coming
Back To The Rules
And I Hit The Ground Running

Didn’t Make Sense Not To Live For Fun
Your Brain Gets Smart
But Your Head Gets Dumb

So Much To Do
So Much To See
So What’s Wrong With
Taking The Back Streets
You’ll Never Know If You Don’t Go
You’ll Never Shine If You Don’t Glow

Hey Now You’re An All-Star
Get Your Game On Go Play
Hey Now You’re A Rock Star
Get The Show On Get Paid
And All That Glitters Is Gold
Only Shooting Stars Break The Mold

It’s A Cool Place
And They Say It Gets Colder
You’re Bundled Up Now
Wait ‘Til You Get Older
But The Meteor Man Beg To Differ
Judging By The Hole
In The Satellite Picture

The Ice We Skate
Is Getting Pretty Thin
The Water’s Getting Warm
So You Might As Well Swim
My World’s On Fire
How About Yours
That’s The Way I Like It
And I’ll Never Get Bored

Hey Now You’re An All-Star
Get Your Game On Go Play
Hey Now You’re A Rock Star
Get The Show On Get Paid
And All That Glitters Is Gold
Only Shooting Stars Break The Mold

Go For The Moon
Go For The Moon
Go For The Moon
Go For The Moon

Hey Now You’re An All-star
Get Your Game On Go Play
Hey Now You’re A Rock Star
Get The Show On Get Paid
And All That Glitters Is Gold
Only Shooting Stars

Somebody Once Asked
Could I Spare Some Change For Gas
I Need To Get Myself Away
From This Place
I Said Yep What A Concept
I Could Use A Little Fuel Myself
And We Could All Use A Little Change

Well The Years Start Coming
And They Don’t Stop Coming
Fed To The Rules
And I Hit The Ground Running

Didn’t Make Sense Not To Live For Fun
Your Brain Gets Smart
But Your Head Gets Dumb

So Much To Do So Much To See
So What’s Wrong With
Taking The Back Streets
You’ll Never Know If You Don’t Go (Go)
You’ll Never Shine If You Don’t Glow

Hey Now You’re An All-star
Get Your Game On Go Play
Hey Now You’re A Rock Star
Get The Show On Get Paid
And All That Glitters Is Gold
Only Shooting Stars Break The Mold

All That Glitters Is Gold
Only Shooting Stars Break The Mold

The Album

In 2007, I reconnected with my long-time friend and former bandmate, Gary Zdenek. We jammed with a group of guys on Friday night, and that informal gathering led to the formation of a cover band called The HitMen.

The original lineup of the band was named Room For Five and consisted of Charlie Askley on lead vocals, Mark DeVilbiss on bass/vocals, Gary Zdenek on drums/vocals, Craig Ott on guitar/vocals, and myself on keyboards. We mainly covered the hits from the 50s through the 70s, including The Beatles, Elvis, and The Who, among others. It was my first serious venture into the world of cover bands.

After playing a few venues, the band underwent some changes with the departure of lead vocalist Charlie Askley. We decided to change our name and started calling ourselves The HitMen. Our debut was in late 2008, with a slightly different lineup that included Mark DeVilbiss on bass/vocals, Gary Zdenek on drums/vocals, Craig Ott on guitar/vocals, and myself on keyboards.

We expanded our music catalog by including several 80s songs and played at additional venues, including Splits Lounge, Pelican Isle, and a few exclusive events.
Over time, we made a few more changes, including adding a new bass/vocalist, a new vocalist/guitarist, and a new name.

Despite the challenges of changing a band’s lineup, we remained dedicated to our love for music and the thrill of performing in front of live audiences. We said goodbye to our time in the spotlight as The HitMen and expanded our horizons as the newly formed SlipJacket.
