In 2011, I embarked on my second full-scale worship music project. My recent move to Montana inspired the entire project.
After accepting the position as the pastor of worship arts at Hannaford Street Bible Church in Helena, Montana, I challenged the members of Hannaford’s worship team to set a goal of offering several original worship songs for an upcoming worship and praise CD.
The CD was to be a gift for those attending Hannaford Street’s annual Pastor’s Conference, which was celebrating its 15th anniversary that year. Pastors from all over the country attend the conference each year, and what better gift to give them and their churches than a worship CD with original music?
Although the challenge was monumental, I was confident our newly formed worship team could manage this undertaking. I was very fortunate to have a very gifted group of individuals on our team, and even having some songwriters collaborate for the first time was a blast.
The Hannaford Street worship team members had only six months to write, arrange, produce, and record an all-original worship album. Time was certainly not on our side, and having some members who had never experienced the process of recording an entire CD before seemed daunting.
Despite the challenges, things started moving forward. We had a working timeframe to meet, and it was a pretty straightforward goal. Everyone involved in the project stepped up by offering their gifts of time, music, lyrics, voices, and instruments to help create one incredible worship CD.
The CD would include all original music by the worship team. The final product speaks for itself. It features various musical influences infused by sincere hearts worshipping, praising, and pouring out their emotions through songs of hope and adoration.
The recording process was a learning experience for everyone involved and an opportunity for growth and development. The team learned how to work together, collaborate, and communicate effectively. They also learned how to write and arrange meaningful, uplifting, and engaging songs. The entire process was a testament to the power of teamwork, dedication, and faith.
Since its release, the CD has been well received by the Hannaford Street Bible Church community and those who attended the Pastor’s Conference. It is currently available on iTunes and Amazon.com and continues to inspire many people. The project’s success also served as a springboard for future worship music projects, and it helped establish the Hannaford Street worship team in the world of Christian music.
