As I Watched The News Today
I Prayed The Lord Would Come And Rescue Me
The He Spoke To Me And He Said Oh Son
Do You Know Where I’m Taking You
Cause When The Angels Come
We’re Gonna Sing Our Praises To The Lord
No Time To Waist The Hour
The Son Of Man Is Coming Back To Take Us Home
Jesus Said To His Disciples
He Who Follows Me Will Truly Never Die
In My Father House Are Many Rooms
And I’ll Prepared A Place For You
Cause When The Angels Come
We’re Gonna Sing Our Praises
To One And Mighty Lord
No Time To Waist The Hour
The Son Of Man Is Coming Back
To Take Us Home
We’re In The Final Hours
The Signs Are All Around Us
Heavens Not That Far Way
They’ll Find That They We’re Wrong
So All You Unbelievers Hear His Call
Solo
As I Watched The News Today
I Knew That God Had Given Us The Victory
It’s The Love Of Jesus Christ
That We Must Share With All Of Those
Who’ve Never Seen
Cause When The Angels Come
We’re Gonna Sing Our Praises To The Lord
No Time To Waist The Hour
The Son Of Man Is Coming Back
To Take Us Home Take Us Home
Yeah Yeah He’s Come Back To Take Us Home

One Love Changes
Can You Feel The Magic
Thunder Without Sound
Lighting In A Empty Room
All Around Is Tragic
We See It Every Day
As Dark Clouds Begin To Loom
(Through An Open Window)
Through An Open Window
(I Hear A Child Scream)
I Hear A Child Scream
Waiting For A Dawn To Come
(With Anger All Around Us)
With Anger All Around Us
(We Chase Away Our Dreams)
We Chase Away Our Dreams
(With No Place)
With No Place Left For Us To Run
So I Fell To My Knees
And I Wait For Your Reply
Oh I Hear So Many Reasons
And I Start To Wonder Why
And The Breaking Of The Silence
Leaves Me Tearing
My Whole World Apart
One Love (Changes)
One Heart
Changes Me (Heart)
Changes You
But Look What We’ve Done
With This Love We’ve Been Given Yeah
It Blind And It Cuts Me
It Comes And It Goes
Surely Takes My Breath Away
Like A Hand Getting Tighter
The Blood Overflows
Wanting Just To Get Away
So I Fell To My Knees
And I Wait For Your Reply
Oh I Hear So Many Reasons
And I Start To Wonder Why
And The Breaking Of The Silence
Leaves Me Calling Out To You Tonight
One Love (Changes)
One Heart
Changes Me (Heart)
Changes You
But Look What We’ve Done
With This Love We’ve Been Given
One Love (Changes)
One Heart
Changes Me (Heart)
Through And Through
With No Where To Run
We Best Start Beginning Yeah
Solo
But When He Again Brings The Firstborn
Into The Inhabited Earth
He Says Let All The Angels Worship Him
However Those Who Seek
They Shall Surely Find
Those Who Knock
The Door Will Be Open
Those Who Ask It Shall Be Given
Solo
So I Fell To My Knees
And I Wait For Your Reply
Oh I Hear So Many Reasons
And I Start To Wonder Why
And The Breaking Of The Silence
Leaves Me Calling Out To You Tonight
One Love (Changes)
One Heart
Changes Me (Heart)
Changes Me Changes You
But Look What We’ve Done
With This Love We’ve Been Given Yeah
One Love (Changes)
One Heart
Changing Me
Through And Through
With No Where To Run
We Best Start Beginning
One Love Changes One Heart
Changes One Love Changes One Heart
One Love Changes One Heart
Changes One Love Changes One Heart
With No Where To Run
We Best Start Beginning
Ooh Woh
We Best Start Beginning
Ooo Ahh

Arisen From The Grave
A Savior To A World
Is He The Messiah
That Was Foreseen
Let’s Rejoice The Day
For Your King Has Arrived
But Will He Be
The Savior To Us All
Out Of The Ashes
Out Of The Ashes
The Father Sends His Son To Die For A Sin
Would He Be The Sacrifice For All
Would He Be A Lamb In A World Of Unbelievers
But Only He Could Save Us Form Ourselves
From Out Of The Ashes
Out Of The Ashes He Rose
Wake Up To The Son For His Is The One
Who Died For The Cost Of You
All Disbelieves Misguided Deceivers
He’ll Pay For You Price Too
He’s The One True Power
The Man Of The Hour
Who We’ll Nail To A Tree
But He’ll Rise From Your Ashes
In All His Glory For Everyone To See Sha
Out Of The Ashes He Rose
So What Will You Believe
With Nothing Left To Say
And Only One To Lead You Into Heaven
For God So Love The World
He Gave His Only Son
So We Could Have Eternal Life Above
From Out Of The Ashes
Out Of The Ashes
Out Of The Ashes
He Rose
And All The Children Will Rejoice
Oh When Your Savior Comes Again
Woh Woh Woh
You Know That You All Have A Choice
So Won’t You Let Your Savior In
Won’t You Let Your Savior In
He Rose
He Rose
He Rose
He Rose
Out Of The Ashes
He Rose
He Rose
He Rose
Out Of The Ashes
He Rose
He Rose
He Rose
He Rose
Out Of The Ashes
He Rose
He Rose
He Rose
Out Of The Ashes
He Rose
He Rose
He Rose
He Rose
Out Of The Ashes

Hey There Little Love
Why Are You Smiling
There’s A New Day
Awaiting You
On A Better Island
See A Sun Light On Your Face
A Comfort Ever Growing
And I Just Can’t Understand
I Can’t See Where You Are Going
See A Would Full Of Anger
Trading Justice For A Man
Who Will Say
They Will Bring A New Day
With Colors Mixing The Fray
Of The Blue And The Grey
In Sunlight So Golden
Face Solace We Go On
Take The Hand Of Your
Sister And Brother
Inactive Compassion
Oh Why Us
Do You Feel Better Now
Now That You Are Wiser
See That Time Still Awaits You
In A Void Un-named Sorrow
Go Wait For The Day
When No One Needs Tomorrow
See A World Full Of Choices
Trading Moral For Mortal
Who Say They Will
Bring A New Day
Intentions Lost On The Way
For The Blue And The Grey
With No Hope Dread And Tattered
Seize The Fruit Of The Land
Wait And See A Cold Misery
No One Remembers The Brave
For The Ones Who Have Died
Who’s Hopes Start To Fly
Before They Are Old And Forgotten
Forgotten Today
In Sunlight So Golden
Face Solace We Go On
Take The Hand That Is True
For The Day
For The Day
Oh For The Day
Oh Yeah Yeah Yeah
Oh Gotta Gotta Oh You Gotta
Take The Hand Of Your
Sister And Your Brother
Take The Hand Of Your
Sister And Your Brother
Show The World That
There Is No Other
To Hold To Mold
(Scatting)

One Small Light In The Dark
Speaking So Soft To Me
I Was Found Walking In A Grey Cloud
With Only Eyes To See
Words You Spoke To Me
When I Was Younger
Talking About The One Who Came
To Wash Away The Pain After The Rain
After The Rain
There’s A Man Standing On A Playground
Who Thinks He Found His Life
There A Clock Ticks Away Your Life Line
With No More Days To Buy
No More Words To Speak When Your A Cold Man
No It Isn’t Written In The Stars Or In Your Hand
Cause We’re Going Back Now
To The Words That They Had Told You
When They Told You Not To Worry
Because He Waited Just For You
After The Rain
After The Rain
He Was The One Who Came
To Wash Away The Pain
After The Rain
With No More Tears To Cry Ever Again
After The Rain
He Was The One Who Came
To Wash Away The Pain
No No No
Now I Come Closer To The Answer
I Need To Find You Now
Letting Go Of All Of My Distraction
If Only You Would Show Me How
After The Rain
You Were The One Who Came
To Wash Away The Pain
After The Rain
With No More Tears To Cry Ever Again
You Got A One Way Ticket To Paradise
But You Can Never Find The Time
You Better Take The Time To Listen
Before You Lose Your Mind
Cause There’s Another Love In Front Of Me
And There’s Another Lover Inside Of Me
And If I Had The Chance
I’d Do It All Again
I’m Gonna Sing It To You
I’m Gonna Sing It To You
Oh I’ll Sing It To You Love
Forever Again
And Ever again
And Ever again
After The Rain
Oh Ooo I’m Singing It To You Forever Again
After The Rain
Awe You Were The One
Who Came To Wash Away The pain
After The Rain
You Were The One Who Came
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah

The Band Fair Exchange had two separate eras; the first era, which began in the early 1980s, featured the following members:
Steve Headland (guitar)
Mark Pauley (lead guitar/vocals)
Gary Zdenek (drums/vocals)
Mike Sumption (keyboards/vocals)
Marc Miller (bass)
Tom Allain (bass)
This first era Fair Exchange toured the coast of California, launching them into becoming a great live act and receiving radio play from their debut self-titled (10-track album) “Fair Exchange,” produced under the name Little Shiny Records. The band would perform at Knott’s Berry Farm’s “Jubilation Celebration” and received the moniker of “Loudest Band.” But, members of the band ultimately chose to part ways in 1991.
The band would reunite in the mid-’90s for a reunion and concert in Japan. They were performing previously unreleased songs and classics from their debut album and songs such as “Blue and the Grey,” written during the band’s second incarnation. From the concert in Japan, they gathered the music from that show to assemble a live CD titled Land Between Pure Waters. You can also find their debut album, remastered in 2022 and available here on Spotify.
This second era of Fair Exchange would find its origins in early 1993. Fair Exchange bassist Marc Miller and drummer/percussionist Gary Zdenek converged their talents with guitarist Dave Perrigan and me on keyboards after joining forces and writing together for several months under the band name New Jerusalem (which was a band Dave and I began in 1991). The band members suggested New Jerusalem could use the Fair Exchange name and their existing catalog. Together we picked up where the first incarnation of Fair Exchange had left off.
Our second incarnation of Fair Exchange started by reformulating Fair Exchange’s commercial sound and taking it in a more progressive and alternative direction with songs like “Changes” and “After the Rain.” Fair Exchange would become a fusion of New Jerusalem’s progressive rock style and the original Fair Exchange’s straightforward rock sound.
During this second incarnation of Fair Exchange, the band self-produced two music videos. Director/videographer Shawn Van Eeckhoutte produced these. One was for the song “After the Rain,” and the second video was for the song “Changes.” Shawn Van Eeckhoutte did a masterful job capturing the music and our personalities and performances on film. Gary Zdenek provided the Storyboarding and art direction for both videos, each filmed in Orange County, California. These two videos had a quality that still stands the test of time. The music video for “After the Rain” went on to receive multiple video awards, including a 1993 Videographer’s Award for “Best Creative Music Video” and an OMNI award, which recognizes outstanding production, design, and content in the converging fields of television, film, video, internet, interactive media and, 3D animation.
The band continued to rock out at many unique venues, having multiple performances at The Fireside in Downy, California. It also received radio play, having our song “Changes” featured on “The Rock’s Edge” Radio program, an underground radio program showcasing alternative rock music.
The group also continued ministry work, bringing Jesus to people through music. As well as playing at various church outreach events, Fair Exchange was invited to be the house band for a weekend-long ministry camp for youth. Fair Exchange debuted its music video at this ministry camp for the song “After The Rain” but, more importantly, found many young people deciding to follow Christ.
Fair Exchange also appeared on “The Lancelot Show,” a local public access variety talk show. Lancelot featured the “After The Rain” video.
While the music video for “After The Rain” received many accolades, only after primary filming was complete and the band reviewed the final footage for their second music video, “Changes,” there began to be disagreement. Guitarist Dave Perrigan had reservations about the direction the storyline for the video had taken. The plot for the video, as per the original storyboard, took place in a mental institution. The opening scene shows a man in what is supposed to be a straight jacket. The song and video explore the battle of someone struggling to exist in a world with all its violence yet claiming to be a nation under God. The video, as well as the song, were dark in tone. Dave seemed to be alone in his concerns. But despite this, the video footage would be shelved in the end – but not permanently.
The “Changes” video would not see the light of day for several years. It remained dormant until I dusted it off eight years after its original filming. I would edit the raw footage and complete its production in late 2001.
With the departure of guitarist Dave Perrigan from Fair Exchange came the welcomed addition of a new guitarist, Art Bromage. But there was one last change still to come – the final decision we would make as Fair Exchange was to leave all the remnants of the band behind us. The result would be the incarnation of my next band, Crimson Fable.
This album is available on iTunes, Amazon.com, Spotify, and other streaming platforms. You can also check out the new music video for the song Video Messiah with newly recorded lead and backing vocals for the release of the remastered album.
